When you think about Spitsbergen you think about polar bears, but there is so much more. All the beautiful wildlife is absolutely worth photographing, but the landscapes are just truly amazing. Especially at the end of the winter when the sun is returning and the landscapes are still all covered in snow and ice, Spitsbergen turns into a truly magical archipelago. The challenge in this period, however, is the amount of sea ice that can make sailing difficult here. The only question now is how long the sea ice is still present around Spitsbergen now the temperatures continue to rise there. On Spitsbergen the signs of climate change are more visible than anywhere else. Most of the photos in this gallery are made at the end of the winter, a few in the summer.
